ShareChat video will not download or is missing from the gallery: a step-by-step check

ShareChat Desk Editorial · Editorial review: 27 October 2026
A missing ShareChat video can mean several things: the post does not offer the action you expected, the save failed, or the file exists but is not visible in the current gallery view. Identify which case you have before granting more permissions or downloading the same post repeatedly.
Confirm what you are trying to download
Downloading the ShareChat app from Google Play is different from saving a post inside it. If app installation is failing, check the store listing, compatibility, network and available device storage. If the app is installed and the problem concerns one video, concentrate on that post and its current controls.
Open the post normally and inspect the actions ShareChat makes available. Posting, sharing and downloading are not interchangeable. Respect the creator’s controls and the rights attached to the content; do not look for a workaround that bypasses an unavailable action.
Compare one post with another
Use a harmless post for which an appropriate save option is available, or use content you have permission to handle. If only one post fails, record what is different about that post. If every eligible test fails, the device, app state or connection becomes more relevant.
This comparison is more informative than treating all download problems as a single storage issue. Avoid repeatedly selecting the same action while the original request is still processing.
| Observation | What it suggests checking | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| No expected save control | The post’s available actions and current app interface. | Use the options actually provided; do not bypass restrictions. |
| Save starts but fails | Connection, storage and relevant app access. | Compare one small eligible example and record the message. |
| Save reports completion | The local file location and gallery refresh. | Check file details and a file manager as well as the gallery. |
| File exists but will not play | An incomplete or unreadable local copy. | Compare the source playback and the exact saved file. |
Review only the access your task needs
ShareChat’s help points to Android app permissions when videos cannot be saved to the gallery. Modern Android versions can describe access as photos, videos, media or selected items, rather than one universal storage switch. Open the settings for ShareChat and read the permission labels on your device.
Allow access relevant to the action you intentionally want to perform. An app does not need unrelated permissions simply because a generic checklist says to enable everything. If your phone offers selected-media access, confirm that it includes the files you mean to use.
Look for the file before repeating the transfer
Check the date and the sort order in your gallery. Look in relevant albums or recent files, and use a file manager if available. Open the exact file rather than relying on its preview. A stale gallery view can be a display problem even when a saved file is already present.
Check available device storage as well. Review files carefully before removing anything to make space, and preserve originals you cannot replace. Do not clear app data as a first response to a file-location question.
Use a clear escalation note
- Record whether the problem affects one post or several eligible posts.
- Note whether the action is absent, fails during transfer or reports completion.
- Check the connection and relevant device access.
- Record the app and Android versions, approximate time and exact error.
- Share a cropped screenshot with official support if the issue persists.
Keep private account details, messages and unrelated gallery images outside the evidence. A concise description of the failed stage gives support a better starting point than a general statement that downloads do not work.
For slow transfers on mobile data, see the data-use checklist. If your own post never reaches publication, use upload troubleshooting instead.
