ShareChat post not uploading? Find whether the problem is the file, connection or account

ShareChat Desk Editorial · Editorial review: 27 October 2026
When a ShareChat upload stalls, repeating the same large video is rarely an informative first step. Establish where the process stops: selecting media, opening the preview, sending the file or seeing the published post. Keep your original video or photograph before trying changes.
Write down the stage that fails
ShareChat’s published workflow starts with the plus button and a choice between camera capture and existing media. Your version may label or arrange these controls differently. Note whether you can choose the file, reach a preview and proceed with posting.
A file that cannot be selected is a different problem from a file that uploads but is later removed. Similarly, a progress screen that is slow should not automatically be described as a permanent failure. Record the actual message, time and observable result.
| Stage | Possible distinction | Useful check |
|---|---|---|
| Media does not appear in the picker | Access, location or the selected file. | Review relevant photo access and test another local file. |
| Preview will not open | A file-specific processing problem. | Try a short, simple copy that plays locally. |
| Sending stalls | Connection or a temporary service problem. | Compare a small file on a stable connection. |
| Upload completes but post is unavailable | Publication status, moderation or a restriction. | Review the profile and account notices before submitting again. |
Use a small control file
Pick a short clip or simple photo that you own and are comfortable publishing. First open it locally to confirm that it works. Attempt the upload without adding a complicated chain of edits. If that succeeds while the original fails, compare the original’s size, duration, format and editing history with the working example.
Do not rely on an unverified file-size limit copied from an old article. Use any current limit or format requirement displayed by ShareChat. If you create a smaller test copy, preserve the original so that troubleshooting does not reduce the quality of the only version you have.
Check the connection without changing everything
On a connection you are allowed to use, compare the same small file with another stable network if available. Note whether the process fails immediately or after a similar amount of progress. Temporarily pause other large transfers when useful, and avoid repeatedly changing unrelated phone settings.
If every small upload fails across otherwise working connections, keep the evidence and check account notices. A successful upload on one connection is useful information; it does not mean that every future delay has the same cause.
Inspect account restrictions and publication status
ShareChat’s upload help specifically asks users to check whether the account is temporarily or permanently restricted. Follow the status and review route shown in the app. Do not try to bypass a restriction by repeatedly reposting the same material or creating additional accounts.
If a post is removed after publication, review the stated reason separately from the upload process. Keep the content original, use relevant descriptions and respect the rights of the people whose work or image appears. Technical success and permission to publish are different checks.
Restart carefully, then escalate with evidence
- Keep the original media and note whether anything was already posted.
- Check for an official app update, then restart the app if needed.
- Repeat one small test and record its result.
- If the problem persists, capture the smallest sequence that demonstrates the failing stage.
- Contact official support with the device, app version, time, connection comparison and exact error.
Share only the evidence needed to reproduce the issue. A cropped recording can demonstrate a failed preview without exposing private notifications, contact details or unrelated gallery images.
Should I keep tapping the upload button?
No. First check the profile and the current request. Multiple submissions make it harder to tell whether a delayed post finally appeared and can create duplicates that need later attention.
If media is already published but will not save to the phone, follow the separate download and gallery checklist. Review privacy controls before expanding your audience.
